A heated exchange erupted between Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy, and the House of Representatives Committee on Women Affairs, led by Kalifat Ogbara, during an investigative hearing.

The hearing is aimed at investigating alleged diversion of N1.5 billion owed to contractors by the Ministry and scrutinizing other expenditures.

The session became intensed as both parties struggled to be heard, with raised voices and heated arguments.

The Committee Chairman, Ogbara, emphasized that the probe was not a witch-hunt but to ensure contractors were paid for completed work.

The minister, however, claimed the Ministry was underfunded and couldn’t pay contractors.

As the questioning continued, members pressed the Minister on contractors’ payment, allocation for the African First Ladies Mission, and other Ministry expenditures.

The hearing ended in a stalemate, with Ogbara adjourning the session indefinitely, citing concerns over the Minister’s behaviour towards committee members.
