The Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has begun another round of rural roads construction with the flag off of a 9.8km Kabusa – Takushara road to be completed in 6 months.
During the Flagoff ceremony in Abuja, Wike who also declared an immediate upgrade of Kabusa Government Secondary School to an acceptable standard, directed the FCTA Chief of Staff and the Director of Procurement to as a matter of urgency visit the school for a total overhaul.
“They said this place is a school, I will not accept this as a school for our people to have quality education. I therefore declare immediate upgrading of this school to what it is supposed to be. I am sure if Mr President comes here and sees that this is a school… I will lose my job. I don’t want to lose my job.”
The FCT Minister however warned school principals to stop the practice of subjecting students to line up under the Sun to welcome any Minister, when they should be in their classrooms studying.

“It is not in our culture, and this will be the last time where you see this happen. Nobody should bring students out of their schools to line up on the roads to receive us, we will not accept that any longer. What we are doing is what we are supposed to do.
“I want to please appeal to the various school principals not to allow that to happen nextt time. Our children deserve the best, Wike said”.
Wike assured the residents of FCT that the Government of President Tinubu will not fail in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroots.

“We will also turn the satellite towns to cities… I want to assure you that in the next six, seven months this project will be commissioned…and we are going to provide street lights. it has never happened before.”
“What we are doing today is what the Renewed Hope Agenda is all about, to give hope back to our people. I am sure the people of Kabusa and Takushara have lost hope that this road will not be done,
but to the glory of God and the coming in of President Bola Tinubu it is a different story.
“Government is no longer being concentrated only on the cities, government has come down to the grassroots that is part of the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
Responding to the issue of hunger in the country, Wike appealed to Nigerians to be patient that measures were being put in place to chase away bandits that were preventing farmers from going to the farm.
“I cannot support a government that is not serious. I am supporting this government because I know the government of Bola Tinubu will fulfill the promise that they have made.”
“First thing first, we are fighting insecurity. Every problem cannot be solved at the same time. So, things will change… Na Small, small we dey catch monkey. We are almost there, be patient.
” I agree with you, without road can you go to farm? The road construction is a way to reduce hunger.”
“Hunger did not start today. And that is why we are fighting to stop hunger. And if you continue to support the Government, we will stop this hunger” Wike assured.
He also encouraged the contractors handling rural communities road projects to employ the locals while executing the jobs.
“To the contractors, make sure you employ our people, create jobs for them, give them contract to do some supplies so that they can get money and feed their families.” Wike said
