todayNovember 26, 2024

Background

The Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office, NMCO, is partnering the Department of State Service, DSS, to train members of staff on cyber crime security.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Head of Press in NMCO, Folasade Fatoke in Abuja.

The statement explains that the collaboration is part of NMCO’s commitment towards its online service delivery to curb cyber crimes.

According to the statement, the Director General, NMCO, Obadiah Simon Nkom who urges member of staff to adhere to “the Dos and Don’ts” of the DSS training, notes that cyber security is very crucial for personal and organisational protection.

“The NMCO’s system is web based after the launch of the electronic Mining Cadastre Plus (eMC+), it is expected therefore that every user is cautious and careful on their interactions online, he stresses”.

The statement emphasizes that the importance of the Agency’s system migration to online will promote the efficiency and transparency in processing applications for Mineral Titles and boost investment in the mineral sector.

“I believe you all know that our eMC+ has been online since it was launched in November, 2022 and we have been receiving a lot of online applications. As such we need to be very careful and be able to identify such tricks as we are being taught today” Nkom states.

According to him, everybody is prone to attack, and this training is part of strategies in reforming the office and ensuring security alertness.

Highlight of the training is the Declaration of Oath of Secrecy and Oath of Allegiance by members of staff for efficient service delivery to the nation.
