The House of Representatives has ordered the arrest of the Director of Quality Control at the Nigeria College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) and an alleged unlicensed auctioneer for providing false information and selling two helicopters valued at $2.4 billion for $1.2 million without due process.
The Committee on Public Assets, chaired by Ademorin Kuye, made the resolution after a five-hour interaction with NCAT management and other relevant bodies.
The committee is investigating the indiscriminate sale of public assets, including the two helicopters, which were sold without the Federal Executive Council approval.
The committee expressed concerns over the lack of documentation and adequate responses from NCAT, despite requests for comprehensive asset lists and acquisition details.
The use of an unlicensed auctioneer and alleged presentation of false documents further raised concerns.
In his reaction, the Nigerian Army Aviation Coordinator, Musa Alkali, revealed that the Army’s request to utilize the helicopters in anti-terrorism operations was denied and demanded their recovery.
Also a member of the committee,
Midala Balami questioned the authenticity of the presented documents.
In his ruling, the Chairman, Mr Kuye, directed the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to take over the investigation and prosecute the offenders.
