President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commissioned the Outer Southern Expressway, OSEX, from the Villa Roundabout to Ring Road One.

At the ceremony in Abuja, President Tinubu said delivery of the project is a testament that the present administration is determined to renew the hope of Nigerians.

The OSEX is situated between the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Express Way, connecting the Yakubu Gowon Crescent in Abuja.

In what seems like effective planning, despite the fact, that the FCTA Secretariat was under lock and key in compliance to the NLC strike, concerted efforts and strategic coordination of the commissioning activities played out.

All the buses to convey top management staff, goods, people and items to the villa roundabout venue were all lined up outside the Secretariat before 7am, hence the strike action could not hinder the planned project commissioning.

President Tinubu, represented by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima on the occasion, noted that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has redefined leadership in Nigeria and proven to the world that leadership counts.

President Tinubu expressed delight that the Villa roundabout apart from adding to the aesthetics, will also stimulate economic activities and enhance free flow of traffic.

What is unfolding in the federal capital is a testament to what can be achieved by government’s renewed hope agenda of quality transformation of the FCT and indeed Nigeria”.

“Wike is a force of nature,
Wike is redefining the meaning and concept of modern leadership in Nigeria. The President is mightily proud of you, for your dedication, for your persistence, for your courage and the will to do good. I think you deserve to stand and take a bow”.

“Under Wike’s leadership we have witnessed strides in infrastructural development, urban planning and sustainable growth in the nation’s capital.

“Under Wike, we have proved to the world that what counts is leadership, and what this nation needs is quality leadership.
It is a shinning example of what we can accomplish if we work together towards a common goal, transcending political divides and personal interest of the greater good of our nation”, Tinubu said.

On his part, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, attributed the infrastructural development strides attained in the FCT to the enormous support received from Mr President, the National Assembly, Debt Management Office, Area council chairmen and Heads of FCTA Agencies.

According to Wike, irrespective of political affiliations, the council chairmen had been very supportive.

He also commended Civil servants for passing the projects’ files promptly.

This contract was awarded in 2013, eleven years ago”.

“Irrespective of political parties, all the six Area council chairmen have always worked with us in terms of collaborating, security and infrastructure. We have never had any issues when we are doing roads at the area councils or companies being disturbed. For us here, everybody has bought into the Renewed Hope Mantra,” Wike said.

He however threatened that any civil servant that delayed his projects file will be transferred to another unit with less files.

Mr. President the Administration is a team work, but the only difference is that, the civil servant here knows that it is not going to be easy. You have to make sure that files don’t remain in your office for some number of days. If I see that, I transfer you to a place where there is no work . because of that, everybody is serious and we have achieved what we have achieved.” Wike noted

Wike who expressed delight that the good people of FCT can now feel the impact of government, assured residents that the Government of President Tinubu will make life comfortable for all.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary, FCDA, Shehu Ahmed Hadi explained that the 67 km road stretch has 10 lanes, linking Kubwa to Gwagwalada, through Zuba

He added that the Villa roundabout has LED street lights unlike others, adjoining Asokoro and Guzape, intersecting about five roads named after past presidents of the country.
