The Military High Command has expressed serious concern over the recent assault on unarmed personnel at Banex Plaza in Abuja, describing the incident as deeply troubling and detrimental to national security.
The Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, stated this while addressing newsmen on activities of troops across the six geopolitical zones of the country in Abuja.
He noted the ongoing operations against terrorists, criminals, and other threats to the nation, emphasizing the sustained efforts of the military to neutralize these elements.
Referring specifically to the recent attacks on troops in Okuoama and at Banex Plaza, General Buba described these incidents as unhealthy for national security, counterproductive, and tantamount to self-sabotage.
He stressed that such actions undermine the safety and morale of the armed forces, who are dedicated to protecting citizens and ensuring the country’s security.
According to him, the military over the past month achieved significant successes against terrorist groups.
General Buba hilighted the neutralization of 624 terrorists, the arrest of 1,051 individuals, including logistic suppliers, and the rescue of 563 hostages.
He stressed that these achievements reiterate the military’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and maintaining national security.
General Buba called for public support, stressing the crucial relationship between the military and the citizenry in safeguarding the nation.
He emphasized that public cooperation is essential for the continued success of military operations.
Thereafter a minute silence was observed in honour of fallen heroes, acknowledging the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces in their quest to protect the nation.
