Tinubu Urges Nigs To Embrace Old National Anthem

President Bola Tinubu and members of the National Assembly have formally officialized the National Anthem Nigeria started with in October 1960, as the new National Anthem .

In doing so, the three stanzas of the National Anthem with the famous phrase ” Nigeria We Hail Thee..” , was sang at the beginning and end of the joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives held to commemorate 25 years of unbroken democracy in Nigeria which had in attendance, President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and other top government functionaries .

Formalization of the old as New National Anthem, was preceded by signing into law, the executive bill passed by the National Assembly for an Act on the National Anthem by President Tinubu on Tuesday.

The bill was introduced at both Chambers of the National Assembly on Thursday last week and given expeditious consideration and passage.

In his remarks, after the Anthem was sang for commencement of the brief session, the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, thanked President Tinubu for honouring the National Assembly as the place for official recitation of the New National Anthem .
