The Federal Government has reiterated commitment to diversify the economy through exploration and exploitation of solid minerals for rapid socio-ecocomic growth.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Mary Ogbe made this known when she hosted an 18-member delegation from thr Ghana College of Defence Studies led by Brigadier-General Fred Ntiri, in Abuja.
Dr. Ogbe, who was represented by the Director, Artisanal & Small Scale Mining Department, Mr. Yunusa Muhammed stressed that to realize revenue from a monolithic Nigerian economy, the President Tinubu led administration deemed it imperative to diversify the economy in line with its renewed hope agenda.
According to her, the aim is to increase revenue for government as well as enhance the gross domestic product of the country through the solid mineral sector.
”Nigeria operates a monolithic economy since late 1950s. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu deemed it necessary to diversify the economy. Solid Minerals sector is now being accorded high priority to achieve rapid socio-economic development and prosperity for the benefit of Nigerians”.
She expressed strong optimism that the interactive between the management of Nigeria’s Ministry of Solid Minerals Development and Ghana College of Defence Studies will expand their frontiers of knowledge.
In his remarks, Leader of the delegation, Brigadier-General Fred Ntiri stated that their visit to the Ministry was part of a deliberate initiative to acquire knowledge of Nigeria’s Solid Minerals sector aside their classroom environment.
