House Takes Steps To Ensure Presidential Airfleet Operates Optimally

todayMay 21, 2024

Background

The House of Representatives Committee on National Security and Intelligence is establishing a technical subcommittee to engage with stakeholders and scrutinize the operations and management of the Presidential Airfleet.

This move aims to assess the current state of the Airfleet and identify solutions to its challenges, ensuring the fleet’s optimal performance and efficiency.”

The Chairman of the committee, Satomi Ahmed who stated this at a media conference after a closed door meeting with Commander of the Presidential Air Fleet, Air Vice Marshal Olayinka Olusola and representative of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, Major General Muhammed Galadima asked for the true situation of the presidential fleet.

He said the committee was surprised at what they read online about the current state of the presidential Airfleet in the country and wanted a confirmation from the stakeholders.

Satomi had last week moved a motion during plenary on the need to invite the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu to appear before lawmakers and explain the state of the Presidential Airfleet to Nigerians.

He further stated that the Vice President, Kashim Shettima was recently forced to cancel his trip to the United States where he was scheduled to represent President Bola Tinubu at the 2024 US-Africa Business Summit because of a fault detected in his aircraft.

Satomi also informed the house that President Bola Tinubu was equally forced to fly in a chartered plane from Netherlands to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the World Economic Forum held in that country owing to a fault detected in his airfleet.
