Establish Reconciliation Committees Nationwide- Speaker Urges Ganduje

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr Abbas Tajudeen, has urged the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, to establish reconciliation committees to unite party members nationwide.

This move aims to address the grievances of some APC members and promote a united front within the party.

Speaking at the APC stakeholders’ meeting for the Northwest in Kaduna, the Speaker emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence among party members and suggested that reconciliation committees be established at the zonal and state levels to bring peace and unity to the party.

The Speaker also urges Dr. Ganduje to address the high turnover rate of National Assembly members, suggesting that performing members should be given the opportunity to return in 2027 noting that the National Assembly is an institution where experience and seniority are valuable assets.

Speaker Abbas, who commended President Bola Tinubu for allocating key positions to the Northwest, also encouraged the zone to show appreciation by redoubling efforts in 2027.

The Speaker emphasized the need for party leaders to support party structures consistently, not just during election periods.

Regarding the ongoing constitutional amendment, the Speaker highlighted the opportunity for the Northwest to contribute to the review process and identify areas for improvement.

He mentioned key areas of focus, including state police, local government autonomy, women inclusion in politics and governance, and the role of traditional institutions.
