The Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa wants countries to strengthen their engagements with their citizens outside their borders.
She made the call in Abuja when she recieved a high-level delegation from Zambia on a study tour of NiDCOM.
Represented by the Secretary to the Commission Dr. Sule Bassi, the NiDCOM chairman said countries cannot afford to live in isolation, hence the need for constant engagements with other countries and their diaspora.
The Assistant labour commissioner, Zambia Ministry of labour and social security Mukamasole Mundane Kasanda, said their mission was to pick up lessons from Nigeria as they intend to create a Migration resource centre.
The representative of the International Organization for Migration IOM, Sunday Omoyeni noted when migration was properly managed, it would create an avenue for development, adding that Diaspora community can foster economic problems facing the country.
