FCT: Residents Resort To Self-help In Fixing Dilapidated Road

Some concerned residents of Old Kutunku in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory have resorted to community service in fixing the dilapidated FRCN – Market Road.

Correspondent Mathew Ayoola reports that the bad portions of the road have been filled by the concerned residents with rubbles collected from construction sites.

Some of them who interacted with him on the situation of road said they decided to fix the road since the Federal Capital Development Authority, FCDA, and the Gwagwalada Area Council have refused to do the needful over the years.

According to them, since the rainy season is gradually setting in, the road might become a fish pond and will not be motorable for them.

They once again appealed for urgent reconstruction of the road in view of its importance to socioeconomic activities in the area.

FRCN – Gwagwalada- Market Road, which has been in a bad condition for years now, has led to closure of some retail shops thereby affecting day to day business activities in the area.

Motorists in the area have also resorted to using other alternate roads due to the bad condition of the road which has made them regular visitors to mechanics.
