NPF Apprehenda Masterminds Of Abuja-Kaduna Train Attack

todayMay 3, 2024

Background

In a resolute crackdown on crime, the Nigeria Police Force has apprehended the masterminds behind the heinous Abuja/Kaduna train attack.

According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi the arrest comes as part of a broader operation targeting violent crimes along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway and in Kaduna State.

According to the statement, under the leadership of Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the Nigeria Police Force has undertaken proactive measures to combat criminal activities plaguing the state.

Notably, the deployment of a helicopter escort for trains traversing the Abuja-Kaduna route has served as both a deterrent and a rapid response mechanism, significantly enhancing security along the corridor.

It explains that the relentless efforts of the police have yielded substantial results, with 63 suspects paraded for their involvement in various violent crimes, including armed robbery, kidnapping, murder, rape, cult-related activities, and other criminal acts.

Furthermore, the police have recovered firearms, ammunitions, stolen vehicles, harmful weapons, and even ransom money, totaling three million, three hundred and fifty thousand Naira (N3,350,000).

It states further that one of the significant breakthroughs in the investigation is the arrest of Ibrahim Abdullahi, alias MANDE, who confessed to leading a notorious kidnap syndicate operating along the Abuja-Kaduna highway.

It adds that Abdullahi, along with other accomplices, including Auwal Ayuba and Babangida Alhaji Bello, were involved in the brutal train attack that resulted in fatalities and abductions.

Accordingly the Inspector General of Police has reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to safeguarding citizens and ensuring their safety during travel.
