In commemoration of this year’s International Workers Day, Member Representing Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency of Akwa- Ibom state, Mr. Clement Jimbo has emphasized the importance of prioritizing the well-being of workers amidst evolving environmental challenges.
In a statement in Abuja, Mr Jimbo acknowledges the resilience and dedication of Nigerian workers, particularly in the face of the ongoing climate crisis.
Speaking on the theme, Ensuring safety and health at work in a changing climate,
the Lawmaker emphasizes the necessity for comprehensive measures to safeguard workers’ health and safety, considering the increasingly unpredictable climate patterns affecting various industries.
“May Day serves as a reminder of the invaluable contributions made by workers to our nation’s progress and development.
“As we navigate the complexities of a changing climate, it is imperative that we prioritize the safety and well-being of our workforce.”
Highlighting the significance of implementing sustainable practices in workplaces,
Mr. Jimbo pledges to advocate policies aimed at mitigating environmental risks and enhancing workplace safety standards across Nigeria.
In addition to extending heartfelt greetings, the lawmaker urges employers to prioritize the adoption of eco-friendly practices and provide adequate resources to protect workers from climate-related hazards.
