The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubumi Tunji-Ojo says with the massive electronic infrastructure being deployed to the nation’s International Airports by the Nigeria Immigration Service, the era of illegal migration will soon be a thing of the past.
Dr Olubumi Tunji-Ojo stated this when he test ran the E-gates mounted at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja.
The Minister of Interior Dr Olubumi Tunji-Ojo who was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry Dr Aishetu Ndayako and the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mrs Kemi Nandap noted that the E-gates would be fully operational in the coming weeks.
The minister re-emphasized that the E-gates were being deployed to reduce bureaucracy, eliminate human interface as well as make movement in and out of the country seamless.
He commended all the stakeholders in the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu especially those at the airports as they work in synergy to secure the nation from unwanted elements.

transformation possible”.
The Minister who later moved down to the Nigeria Immigration Service headquarters to ascertain the level of work at the command and control center commended the Nigeria Immigration Service for the job so far and stressed that there will be effective and efficient inter-agency collaboration when fully operational.
The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service Mrs Kemi Nandap noted that the facilities would make work easier as well as help the service monitor the nation’s borders effectively .
Mrs Kemi Nandap thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister for supporting the Nigeria Immigration service in achieving it’s core mandate of securing the nation’s borders.
