The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC says it will continue to work with the Media to strengthen Democratic governance in the country.
INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu gave the assurance in Abuja during a Consultative meeting with the media ahead of the Off Cycle Governorship election in Edo and Ondo States.
Professor Mahmood Yakubu who said INEC’s management does not believe in censorship said the commission would continue to remain open to guard against fake News.

He maintained that the Commission would continue to welcome reports, commentaries and analysis on elections to improve service delivery.
In a remark, President Nigeria Union of Journalists, Dr Chris Isiguzo charged INEC to work closely with stakeholders for credible conduct of next Governorship elections in Edo and Ondo States.
According to him, “It is by working together that we can uphold the sanctity of the ballot box and safeguard the nation”.
Dr Chris Isiguzo commended INEC for providing the platform to dialogue and receive inputs of the Media to enhance transparency and effectiveness of the country’s electoral processes.
