A Financial Expert Mr Abba Adaudu wants State Governments to urgently come up with palliatives to cushion the effects of the current food crises in the country.
Addressing Newsmen in Abuja, Mr Adaudu said the measure would also complement the Federal Government’s efforts in releasing food from the National Strategic Reserves.
He commended Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi state for the commencement of distribution of palliatives to indigents which he said would put food on the table of ordinary citizens.
Mr Adaudu stressed that the move by Governor Ododo would bring succour and reduce poverty among the poor in the state.
The Financial Consultant believes that if other state governments adopt the same measure, it would address food shortage and stop protests against hardship in some parts of the country.
He emphasized the need for government to give special attention to agriculture and support entrepreneurs engaged in large farming .
According to him, provision of financial support with adequate security will encourage farmers and entrepreneurs to embark on large scale farming.
Mr Adaudu was also of the opinion that release of food from Silos will only bring short term solutions to the current food crises.
