In a bid to keep to his promises to develop rural areas, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr Nyesom Wike has vowed to use his position as the FCT Minister to initiate and execute people oriented projects that would impact the lives of the citizenry.
Wike stated this in Abuja when he flagged off a 5km Saburi road construction in AMAC Area Council.
During the flag- off ceremony, Wike pointed out that construction of the rural roads was borne out of the opinion that development should not only be concentrated in the city centre.
Wike while assuring that the road that has just been flagged off would be completed this year, also promised to fix the Gwagwa- Karmo – Idu- Deidei road that the AMAC chairman, Christopher Maikalangu requested for, towards meeting the yearnings of the people of AMAC.
Wike further explained that provision of good roads, security and other basic amenities are the entitlements of citizens from the government.
“Development cannot only be concentrated in the city. The people who are living in rural areas must also benefit, and have hope that they are part and parcel of this country “.
“Mr President has emphasized that people at the rural areas must be given attention. So that we will be able to reduce insecurity and economic activities will thrive”.
“Mr President has asked me to tell you that we are not doing you a favour. You are entitled to it. It is our responsibility to do it. So, we are not doing anything extraordinary.” Wike noted.
He hinted that he would as a matter of urgency give a directive that priority attention be given to these AMAC roads to alleviate the plight of the people living in the area.
He urged Nigerians to continue to pray for good health and wisdom for President Bola Tinubu, adding that the President meant well for the people.
“All I want from you is to please help us pray so that the President will continue to have the good health and wisdom to pilot the affairs of the country. It is not easy, I cannot associate myself with where I know that things will not work.
“I will not do that. Because I know that Mr President means well for this country. And I know that today, tomorrow things will be better. It will come, but you have to pass through certain setbacks. But we have to be patient. What does the people need, that is governance. Agreement is agreement and let me tell you, nothing will stop us”.
“All our appeal to Senate Committee chairman and the House Committee is help us, please please, expedite action and pass the budget so that we can immediately move in and do this work. We must show the difference.” Wike said
Earlier, AMAC Chairman, Christopher Maikalangu thanked the FCT Minister for his quality leadership and zeal to transform the territory, noting that the entire residents are feeling his impart on infrastructural development.
“I want to use this medium to inform you, the project master that, the residents of FCT are unanimously happy for having you. This is because your zeal, availability and dedication to develop Abuja is uncommon. Therefore, as my Boss, I will always follow your footsteps, thereby using the resources available to continue the good work in AMAC to augment your efforts in no small measure”.
The FCT Minister was honored with the title, “Jagaban Kudu Jiwa”.
