FCT Police Intercepts Child Trafficking Syndicate

Background

In a swift operation, operatives of the FCT Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad successfully intercepted a potential child trafficking syndicate on Friday, February 9th, 2024.

According to a statement by the
Public Relations Officer of the Command,
Josephine Adeh,
the interception led to the rescue of twelve underaged children and the subsequent arrest of three suspects.

The statement explains that
the operation unfolded when the squad intercepted a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number, APP 489 XE.

It further states that Inside the vehicle was Muhammad Isah, a resident of Kafanchan, Kaduna State, who was found transporting twelve minors, four males and eight females, to a destination later identified to be in Ogun state.

Upon preliminary investigation, it was discovered that the children, aged between 5 and 16 years, hail from Akwanga LGA of Nasarawa State, and were allegedly being trafficked by Pastor Simon Kado and Jesse Simon Kado, who are currently in police custody pending further legal proceedings.

The statement adds that efforts are underway, in collaboration with the Nasarawa State Police Command, to reunite the rescued children with their respective families.

The Commissioner of Police FCT Command Benneth Igweh, emphasizes that the safety of residents remains a top priority for the police force.

He urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the security agencies.
