Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger state has approved the immediate recruitment of one thousand healthcare workers to address current shortfall in the number of doctors and nurses in health centres.
This followed the lifting of embargo for the recruitment of civil servants by the state government.
Commissioner, Primary Healthcare, Dr Ibrahim Ahmed Dangana who stated this while addressing Newsmen in Minna explained that the recruitment would bridge the manpower shortage in the health sector for effective healthcare delivery.
He said as part of efforts by the state government to reduce cases of brain drain in health sector, a taskforce to resuscitate scholarship for healthcare professionals has been set up.
Dr Dangana also spoke of plans by the state government and some development partners to construct a multi million naira Emergency Operation Centre OPS at the state secretariat in Minna to attend to all cases across the twenty five local government areas with ease.
