To address terrorism bedevilling the country, the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle is participating in the Second Meeting of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) Defence Ministers’ Council in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
According to a statement in Abuja by the Director of Information, Press and Public Relations, of the Ministry,
Henshaw Ogubike, the meeting, chaired by Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Sa’ad, aims to strengthen international cooperation in countering terrorism.
According to the statement, during the meeting, discussions delved into Nigeria’s challenges with terrorism, emphasizing the detrimental impact of groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP.
It States that the Coalition commended Nigeria’s efforts, particularly under President Bola Tinubu, in combatting terrorism and enhancing security.

It further explains that the commitment of IMCTC to support and collaborate with the Nigerian Government against terrorism was reiterated.
Similarly, the enduring relationship between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia was emphasized, with talks extending to collaboration, military technology transfer, and a Memorandum of Understanding on security cooperation.
It stresses that outcomes of the meeting are anticipated to enhance global collaboration against terrorism, contributing to increased counter-terrorism and security efforts across the African Sahel region.
The statement adds that this, in turn, is expected to further degrade the operations of Boko Haram, ISWAP, and other terrorist groups in Nigeria.
