NAHCON Announces Final 2024 Hajj Fare
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, has finally announced the fare for the 2024 Hajj.
The Commission, in a statement by the Assistant Director, Public Affairs, Fatima Sanda Usara, says intending pilgrims from the Southern center are required to pay N4,899,000 as Hajj fare.
According to the statement, those from the Northern center will pay N4,699,000, while pilgrims from Yola and Maiduguri center will pay a fee of N4,679,000 for the 2024 exercise.
It says the Chairman of NAHCON, Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi had initially wanted to maintain the 2024 Hajj fare at N4.5 million that was charged as initial deposit until the Naira crashed.
Hence, it explains that the instability in the Dollar exchange rate compelled a necessary adjustment despite commendable efforts by the Chairman to maintain the cost of this year’s Hajj at the said rate.
It says the Chairman actively negotiated substantial discount with service providers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in late January, in his efforts to reduce costs for intending pilgrims.
While expressing his regret, it says the Chairman describes it as the will of Allah, because with the deadline of 25th February, the Commission has limited time to explore further options to maintain the N4.5million which he assiduously worked for.
The statement therefore advises intending pilgrims to balance their Hajj fare by Monday 12th of February to enable the Commission transfer the funds before the deadline.
It assures the public of its commitment to ensure a smooth and successful pilgrimage despite the challenges posed by foreign exchange factors.
It also appreciates the understanding and cooperation of the Nigerian Muslim community .
