Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Oladele Alake, has expressed deep sadness over the gruesome killing of two traditional rulers in Ekiti State, the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsola.
This is contained in a statement signed by him in Abuja.
According to the statement, Dr. Alake extends his heartfelt condolences to Governor Abiodun Oyebanji, the government, and people of Ekiti State, as well as the families and subjects of the departed kings.
“This unfortunate incident underscores the urgent need to address the broader issue of insecurity in our nation, and the President Tinubu-led administration remains committed to surmounting these challenges” he notes.
The statement urges the security agencies to swiftly apprehend the assailants and ensure they face the full wrath of the law.
“Justice must be served for this heinous crime. Additionally, I call on the Police high command and the Department of State Security to take immediate action to rescue the kidnapped primary school pupils from Emure-Ekiti” the Minister states.
“This distressing moment is undoubtedly a challenging time for the people of Ekiti State and all Nigerians. Nevertheless, the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, remains dedicated to working tirelessly to enhance the security situation in our country”.
According to the statement the tragic incident occurred while they were returning from a security meeting.
