African Games: AFN To Stage African Games Meet In February

Plans have been concluded to organize the AFN Pre African Games Evaluation Meet at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on February, 2024.

In a statement signed by the Secretary General of Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Rita Mosindi, the Evaluation Meets has been split into two phase in the month of February to accommodate the large number of athletes.

Plans for the first phase of the Meet is scheduled for 2nd to 3rd February while the second phase will hold 16th to 17th February in Abuja.

The statement also approved events for the men’s category to include; 100m, 400m, 1,500m, 400mH, High Jump, Long Jump and Javelin while the events for the women’s category are; 100m, 400m, 800m, 100mH, Triple Jump, Discus and Race Walk

According to update from the  statement released by the Federation, there will be prizes for 1st to 6th positions in the men’s and women’s events.

The 13th edition of the African Games is scheduled for 8th to 13th March in Ghana.
