Adhere To Guidelines – NCPC To Christian Pilgrims

todayJanuary 17, 2024

Background

Intending Christian pilgrims from the Federal Capital Territory, have been urged to adhere to guidelines set by the Christian Pilgrims Commission for this year’s pilgrimage.

Minister of State, Federal Capital Territory Administration, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, stated this while declaring open the 2024 screening exercise in Abuja.

Dr. Mahmoud appealed to the pilgrims to be good ambassadors of Nigeria during the pilgrimage.

The Minister who was represented by her special Assistant, Mrs Helen Zamani advised the pilgrims to go through the activities of the pilgrimage with full dedication and spiritual consciousness for tangible testimonies.

“This exercise is very organised and I think it is one of the best so far and I urged you to adhere to the rules and guidelines of the pilgrimage and be ready whenever you are called upon for any exercise” the Minister added.

In her welcome address the acting Director, FCT Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mrs Rahila Isa-Baita described the pilgrimage as a journey for discovery of sites and pathways through which the Gospel of Jesus Christ was preached to the world.

Mrs. Isa-Baita said Greece and Rome were chosen by the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission, as an alternative to Israel due to the ongoing crisis in the region.

She said the new sites were handpicked while keeping both spiritual depth and historical significance in mind.

Mrs. Isa-Baita described the screening as an exercise to understand the expectations, address any concerns and ensure everyone is physically and spiritually prepared for the pilgrimage.

Dr. Omokide Moshood in charge of the medical team described the health screening as part of measures to check for ailments like diabetes and hypertension and to educate pilgrims on what to do in case of any emergency.

Some of the intending pilgrims at the screening exercise, Mrs Elisha Fub and Mr. Paul Adejobi expressed optimism that the pilgrimage would boost their spiritual lives.

“Our expectations for the trip is to build our faith spiritually and also to explore historical sites of the early church as narrated in the Bible.
