Kaduna House Of Assembly To Re-Introduce Monthly Sanitation

House of Assembly Members on Environment in Kaduna State will soon forward a bill to revive monthly sanitation towards mitigating Climate Change impact, creating resilience and keeping a clean environment.

The chairman, House Committee on Environment, Mr. Usman Danlami Stingo stated this at a 2- day engagement meeting between the Civil Society and Legislators in Kaduna, organized by Bridge That Gap Initiative in collaboration with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation.

He observed that Climatic Changes comes with negative impacts on both plants and animals including man which requires all people to key into the global fight against escalation of environmental Hazards.

Mr. Usman Danlami Stingo who stated that there was already a bill to expand activities of the state Environmental Protection Agency also said the enforcement of tree planting in residential areas, streets and open areas has become an issue of necessity.

He gave the assurance that the House will ensure that all budgetary approvals to the ministry of environment are released with cash backing for optimal performance.

The Chairman House Committee on Information, NGOs and Development Partners, Mr. Henry Marah described Climate Change as a serious disaster that people must be made aware off to enable them brace up and take precautionary measures.

He expressed satisfaction with the engagement stressing that it is an activity that must be sustained on regular basis for more understanding of the issues, proper engagements and feedback.

Earlier, the Executive Director, Bridge That Gap Initiative, Gloria Kasang Bulus described the engagement as the first of its kind aimed at strengthening the Civil Society Legislature engagement and accountability for better outcomes on Environmental protection and natural resource management in Kaduna State.

“This 2-day stakeholder engagement will provide a platform for interaction between the Legislature, CSOs, academia, media, and development partners towards facilitating the actualization of a permanent citizens’ legislative dialogue mechanism on environment protection, climate change, and natural resources management in the State”.
