The Nigerian Army has officially bestowed the rank of Major Generals on 47 Brigadier Generals in an investiture ceremony in Abuja.

At the occasion the special guest of honour, the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, commended the promoted officers, emphasizing that their elevation was a reflection of their courage, dedication, and hard work.

He acknowledged the sacrifices associated with such promotions and praised their exceptional leadership skills and strategic thinking throughout their careers.

Matawalle urged the newly promoted Major Generals to continue serving the nation with honor and distinction, emphasizing their invaluable contributions to the Nigerian Army.

He also recognized their role in addressing security challenges and encouraged them to redouble their efforts in overcoming the prevailing issues.

Earlier, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, described their promotion as well deserved, emphasizing that the promotion was a recognition of the officers’ hard work and commitment to duty.

He urged them to approach their responsibilities with logic and objectivity, aligning with the vision to transform the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, equipped, and highly motivated force.

The COAS expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for strategic guidance and support, pledging the unwavering loyalty of the Nigerian Army personnel to the constituted authority.

Speaking on behalf of the promoted officers,
Major General Gabriel Ajetunmobi,
appreciated President Tinubu for endorsing their elevation and creating an enabling environment for them to deliver on their mandate.

He affirmed their commitment to the vision of the COAS in transforming the Nigerian Army into a highly motivated force fulfilling constitutional responsibilities within a joint environment.

Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, who was also decorated as a major general had earlier this week announced the confirmation of the promotion of 122 senior officers, including 47 Brigadier Generals elevated to the rank of Major General and 75 Colonels to the rank of Brigadier General.

The investiture witnessed a parade of distinguished guests including top government functionaries, chief of defence staff, Naval Boss, IGP, senior military personnel, retired military personnel and family members of the promoted officers.
