House To Recommend Upward Review Of FRCN Budget

The House of Representatives Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Values says the committee will recommend upward review of the 2024 capital allocation of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN.

The Chairman of the Committee, Mr Olusola Fatoba, stated this in Abuja while briefing the House Pres Corps on the budget defence excercise of the committee.

Mr Fatoba said the committee has studied the appeal by the Director General of the Corporation, where he appealed for the upward review from 211 million naira to 4 billion naira to address problems of obsolete equipment and dilapidated infrastructure.

The committee chairman explained that it would also enable the corporation to assist government in effective information dissemination and tackling fake news.

Speaking on the Budgetary Allocation to the Ministry of Information and the Agencies under it, the Lawmaker described the budgetary Allocation as grossly inadequate making them unable to carry out their constitutional responsibilities.

“The National Orientation Agency NOA is today unable to effectively enlighten Nigerians, especially youths on the negative effects of indecent dressing, drug abuse and political thuggery due to inadequate funding.” he said
