Group Passes Vote Of Confidence In Wike

todayDecember 11, 2023

The indigenous people of Abuja, under the auspices of Concerned FCT People’s Assembly, has staged a peaceful protest in favour of the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike.

The group said they have passed a vote of confidence on Wike over his impactful policies and programmes, aimed at transforming Abuja.

The protest was in response to the protest that held last week which called on the National Assembly not to pass the #15 billion naira proposed budget for the completion of official residence of the Vice President and the 2023 Suplimentary budget for the FCT.

The protesters who were in their Gbagyi traditional attires, rolled out cultural drums and traditional masquerades to show their solidarity for the FCT miinister.

The representative of the group, Comrade Ahmed Nda-Yakubu, described last week’s protest against the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike as uncalled for.

Nda-Yakubu noted that the anti- Wike protesters calling for his resignation was an indication that corruption is fighting back, particularly as it relates to issues of land grabbing and racketeering.

Nda-Yakubu therefore warned those distracting the FCT Minister to desist from such act, to enable him replicate his good work in Rivers State in the territory.

“We are here to pass a vote of confidence in the minister for the impact he is making to make FCT a home for all where our rights as indigenes and residents will be protected”.

“The FCT minister is a man of action who has in the last few months kicked the ball rolling in the right direction, hence the indigenes and residents of FCT are calling on the anti- Wike protesters that the minister, has a lot of job to do in the FCT, and should not be distracted so that he can replicate what he did in Rivers State, for us, as he is tested and trusted by residents and indigenes of FCT.”

The Coordinator of the Assembly, Chief Cyril Ukabil, lauded the minister’s strides in reforming the process of getting the Certificate of Occupancy, nothing that the move rekindled the hope of Nigerians in the present administration.

Chief Ukabil who said the Minister has shown excellent capacity on land matters, however appealed to the FCT minister to look into issues of insecurity, resettlement, reallocation, transportation, primary health care system, welfare of workers among others.
