FCTA Will Continue Supporting Local Film Makers – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr Nyesom Wike, has
assured participants at the Zuma Film Festival that the FCT Administration would continue to support local filmmakers towards nurturing home grown talents.

The Minister who stated this at the closing ceremony and award night of the Film Festival, held in Abuja, pledged the Administration’s commitment to make the Festival bigger in the coming years.

Wike, who was represented by the FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, identified the Zuma International Film Festival as a catalyst for economic prosperity.

Wike also promised the Administration’s readiness to implement plans aimed at elevating the festival’s status for economic benefits in the territory.

The Minister also appreciated all the filmmakers, actors, producers, and everyone involved in the creation of the work of art, that has helped to foster the spirit of cultural convergence.

“We will continue to provide platforms, resources, and opportunities for budding filmmakers within the FCT, fostering an environment conducive for creative expression and innovation.

“We also seek to amplify the reach and prestige of the Zuma Film Festival on the global stage. This will attract more attention, participants, and investments, thereby augmenting the festival’s economic benefits for the FCT.”

“We aim to attract a broader audience, including enthusiasts, students, and professionals, thus amplifying the economic impact across various sectors”, Wike said.

Earlier, the FCTA Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olusade Adesola, said the Zuma Film Festival has been an embodiment of the beauty found in the convergence of diverse cultures, ideologies, and creative expressions.

Adesola affirmed that throughout the festival, residents of Abuja have witnessed a tapestry of narratives that transcends boundaries, uniting people in the shared experience of the human story.

According to him, “Filmmakers, through their artistry, have not only entertained but have also provoked thoughts, stirred emotions, and fostered understanding among different cultures and traditions.

Highpoint of the event was the presentation of awards to deserving filmmakers, producers, actors amongst others.
