Land racketeers and other illegal land criminals in the Federal Capital Territory will soon have their days in court as the FCT Administration has engaged the services of 25 Senior Advocates of Nigeria to challenge such people in the court of law.
Minister of FCT, Mr Nyesom Wike who stated this during a media parley expressed concern over the level of corruption and insider dealings on land matters in the Territory.
Mr Wike also said that the Administration had decided to reduce the fee for the issuance of Certificate of Occupancy from five million naira to three point five million naira.
The Minister stated that the fee for the C of O would help generate the much needed revenue for the Territory while the document would improve security and tax collection.
According to him, property owners who already own C of O’s will apply for a renewal which will be issued for a token.
Mr Wike explained that since assumption of office his administration had increased the Internally Generated Revenue of the FCT from fourteen billion to over twenty billion Naira.
The Minister commended President Bola Tinubu for approving the removal of the FCT from the Single Treasury Account, TSA, which would enable the Territory fulfil its responsibilities effectively.
