Ministry Of Defence, Interior Join Forces To Tackle Insecurity

In a significant move to address internal security concerns, the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has announced the collaboration between the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Interior.

In a statement by the Director Press and Public Relations, Henshaw Ogubike, the collaboration came when the minister received his counterpart from the Ministry of Interior, Olubumi Tunji Ojo.

Badaru expressed the Ministry of Defence’s commitment to work hand in hand with the Ministry of Interior to combat the security challenges facing the nation.

He emphasized the need for joint efforts, stating, “We will succeed if we work with you, and you will succeed if you work with us”.

To facilitate this collaboration, the Minister directed the establishment of a technical committee between the two Ministries, focusing on areas of mutual interest to effectively address the country’s security challenges.

On his part the Minister of Interior, Olubumi Tunji Ojo, highlighted the changing security landscape, stressing the necessity for the Ministries to unite in devising means to tackle the current security situation.

He emphasized the crucial role of securing borders, stating, “A country with a safe border is a safe nation.”

“The Agencies in the Ministry of Interior are very key to internal security. We need to work together,” Ojo urged.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence,
Ibrahim Abubakar Kana echoed the importance of synergy, in aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 8 Point Agenda.

He stressed that collaborative efforts between the two Ministries could bring significant benefits to Nigerians.

The collaboration between the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Interior is poised to enhance the nation’s internal security measures, reinforcing the commitment to address and overcome prevailing security challenges.
