The Acting Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Mrs Caroline Adepoju has ordered immediate investigation to ascertain the remote cause of the accident that claimed the lives of four personnel of the service along Kano/Zaria road on Sunday morning.
At a media briefing in Abuja, the NIS Public Relations Officer, Aridegbe Adedotun said the officers were coming back to Abuja after a programme in Kano state.
Mr Adedotun noted that the unfortunate incident has thrown the entire Service into deep mourning stressing that the Comptroller General had directed all commands and formations to fly the flag at half mast for the next seven days.
He said the Comptroller General had also ordered a three day mourning period in honour of the fallen colleagues.
Mr Adedotun while urging the media to respect the privacy of the affected families said the Service stands firm with those left behind by their breadwinners during this distressed period.
The Public Relations Officer prayed for speedy recovery of seven other colleagues who sustained various degrees of injuries in the accident and are currently receiving treatment at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital in Kano.
