The Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Olukayode Ariwoola has reiterated commitment towards enhancing the justice system in the interest of all Nigerians.
The CJN made the call at the validatory session in honour of a retired supreme court Judge, Musa Dattijo Muhammad in the supreme court complex, Abuja.
He commended Justice Dattijo whom he said has made a remarkable contribution in the adjudication of justice in accordance with the rule of law.
The CJN, who lamented over the work load on the apex court and the limited numbers of Justices called on the Federal Government to address the issue by appointing more justices for better justice delivery.
The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Prince Abdulateef Fagbemi also commended the retired Justice for his immense contributions to the justice system adding that his presence in the temple of justice will be greatly missed.
He added that president Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda, has put the necessary legal framework together to tackle the numerous challenges faced by the judicial sector of the economy.
Earlier, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Yakubu Maikyau who condemned the numerous criticisms faced by judicial officers in the discharge of their duties appealed to Nigerians to see the judiciary as the only hope of the common man irrespective of class, ethnicity or tribal differences.
He however commended the apex court Justices for their significant contributions in the administration of justice within the ambit of law especially the landmark judgement which upheld president Bola Tinubu as the authentic winner of the 2023 general election.
In a reaction, retired Justice Musa Dattijo Mohammad commended the CJN, and colleagues for their unwavering support and cooperation in the administration of justice while in office.
Justice Muhammad who said there was need to reform the judicial sector called on President Bola Tinubu who has always been a friend of the judiciary to do more to sustain the sector.
