The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC is to deploy over Forty Six Thousand regular and ad-hoc Staff for conduct of next month’s off cycle Governorship election in Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo states.
INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu stated this in Abuja during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners, REC’s in the thirty Six States and FCT .
Professor Mahmood Yakubu said the Commission was finalizing arrangements for Vehicles and boats for land and maritime movement of personnel and materials.
He expressed concern over the level of insecurity and election related violence in the three States but said that security agencies have assured of adequate deployment for the polls.

According to the INEC Chairman, the commission will continue to deepen engagement with security agencies and other stakeholders for peaceful conduct of the elections..
He commended the hard work of Resident Electoral Commissioners in the last general election and stressed that lessons learnt would assist in the conduct of the off cycle Governorship election in the three States.
