Zenith Women’s Basketball: MFM Crowned Winners

Mountain Of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) Women’s Basketball team on Thursday, were crowned winners of the 2023 Zenith Women’s Premier Basketball League Final Four in Lagos.

The Olukoya Girls made it three wins in three games to clinch their first ever Zenith Women’s Basketball League title.

MFM went all out at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium Surulere, Lagos, as they proved themselves worthy champions after a hard fought victory over Nigeria Customs 64-60 in the last game of the league.

With all to win on the final day for MFM, the Border Girls put up a brilliant fight, closing a 10 point gap from the third quarter to drag the game to overtime.

But the Olukoya Girls were not to be denied as they put six points at overtime to be crowned winners.

Zenith Women’s Basketball MVP: Regina Donanu (MFM)

The victory didn’t stop there for the new champions as Regina Donanu of MFM was named both Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Highest three point shooter of the tournament.

Zenith Women’s Basketball: Air Warriors vs Bayelsa Blue Whales

Meanwhile, defending Champions Air Warriors of Abuja, could only manage a second place finish after defeating Bayelsa Blue Whales 60-42.

After two straight defeats, Nigeria Customs settled for third place , with Bayelsa Blue Whales ending in fourth position.

Zenith Women’s Basketball: Top Five players

Regina Donanu, Hembam Wandoo, Essien Favour (All of MFM), Isaac Abigail (Bayelsa Blue Whales) and Oyoko Nkem (Air Warriors) were all named as the top five players of the tournament.
