Gaidam Seeks Partnership With Canada To Tackle Trans National Crimes

In a bid to combat transnational crimes the Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, has sought for a strong partnership between Nigeria and Canada, particularly in the areas of security and law enforcement.

He made the call when the Canadian Embassy in Nigeria, led by High Commissioner, James Christoff, paid him a visit in Abuja.

Gaidam emphasized the opportunity for both countries to work together to create a safer and more prosperous world.

The Minster stressed the need for more engagement to develop innovative strategies to address emerging security threats.

“Our collaboration will not only benefit our countries but also contribute to the overall stability and security of the International community.

“The visit of His Excellency James Christoff presents a unique opportunity for us to explore avenues for collaboration in areas such as intelligence sharing, capacity building, and joint operations. By leveraging our respective strengths, we can effectively combat transnational crimes, terrorism, cyber threats, and other challenges that transcend borders”.

The Canadian High Commissioner, James Christoff, who acknowledged the strong bilateral relationship between Nigeria and Canada praised the ongoing efforts of the Nigerian Government in police reforms and expressed continued cooperation between both nations.

Earlier the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Nasir Sani Gwarzo said Nigeria remains committed to fostering better bilateral relationships and Cooperation with Canada to address criminal activities in both countries.
