House Committee On Federal Character Commits To Constitutional Mandate

The House Committee on Federal Character has expressed commitment to fulfilling its constitutional mandate and delivering its best to the nation.

The Chairman of the Committee and Former Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Idris Wase Stated this during the inaugural meeting of the constituted committee at the National Assembly.

Mr. Wase emphasized that the committee would carry out its responsibilities in accordance with the Federal Character Act, aiming to promote peace, unity, and inclusiveness among citizens for the overall growth and development of the nation.

He highlighted the importance of active participation from the committee’s members and stated that the panel was well-equipped with the necessary legislative backing to fulfill its core mandate effectively.

In furtherance of its objectives, Mr. Wase disclosed that the committee would hold meetings with the Federal Character Commission and other agencies under its purview in the upcoming weeks to assess the level of compliance regarding employment opportunities and ensure that the principles of federal character are upheld.

“The House Committee on Federal Character plays a vital role in ensuring equitable distribution of resources, appointments, and opportunities across various sectors of the country.”
