Supers Eagles Set Eyes On Friendly As AFCON 2023 Draw Linger

Super Eagles of Nigeria will play there international friendly game on Friday when they take on the Green Falcons of Saudi Arabia in the Portugese city of Portimao.
The Eagles from Nigeria who have who have won the AFCONS three times will welcome the Green Falcons of Saudi Arabia who are also Asian champions at the Estádio Municipal de Portimão, Portugal.
Super Eagles’ final preparations for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa was the only and previous encounter between both countries as the friendly match played in Europe also ended goalless.
At the back of the Super Eagles head will be result of the African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) 2023 draws which takes place on thursday evening in Cote d’Ivoire.
The West African power house has been placed in Pot 2 of the draws having been ranked 40th in the world, they are sure not to face fellow pot 2 members Mali, Ghana, Cameroon, Congo DR and Burkina Faso.
They however have to be wary as they are most likely to be paired against one of the four North African powerhouses of Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco, who are all placed in Pot 1.

Pot 1 is completed with host nation Cote d’Ivoire and defending champions Senegal.

As it is a custume, there must be a “Group Of Death”, and that is where Nigeria’s Eagles won’t want to fall into as all countries in the group are of equal strength and there is a slim chance of survival.
Super Eagles match into AFCON 2023 as one of the favourites no matter the group they are placed as they have the likes of FIFA Ballon d’Or nominee Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, Samuel Chukwueze, Wilfred Ndidi and Calvin Bassey among others.

For the Super Eagles, much is expected from them in AFCON 2023, the pressure is now on Jose Peseiro who qualified the team to bring home the trophy as he promised.
Friday’s encounter is a perfect way for Peseiro’s boys to send an emphatic message to their potential group members, as they made a late minute call up to goalkeeper Maduka Okoye who mounted the post in AFCON 2021.
Friday’s game kicks off at 5pm West African time (WAT).
