Speaker Stops Activities To Celebrate His 60th Birthday

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Abbas Tajudeen has called on members of the 10th House of Representatives, family members and loved ones to stop any form of birthday advertorials or activities on his 60th birthday.

Dr. Abbas in a statement by his special adviser on media and publicity, Abdullahi Musa Kirshi urges them to channel their birthday gifts to charity.

The statement reads: “This is to inform Honourable Members, constituents, friends, family members, associates and well-wishers of the Speaker of the House of Representatives that he appreciates them for their felicitations ahead of his birthday, which comes up on Sunday, October 1, 2023″.

“However, the Speaker wishes to kindly request that those planning to place congratulatory adverts on the pages of newspapers, TV stations or any other paid platform(s) for his birthday should refrain from doing so, in view of the current situation in the country and in line with prudent management of the meager resources at our disposal”.

“Also, those planning to buy gifts, organize receptions or any form of event to celebrate Mr. Speaker’s birthday are also requested to refrain from such. Rather, funds meant for all the above should be properly channelled for charity”.

“Once again, Mr. Speaker appreciates everyone for their well wishes and prayers at this moment”.
