AFN President Hails Amusan On Diamond League Triumph

President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN),Chief Tonobox Okowa, has hailed “fantastic”Tobi Amusan for her heroics at the Diamond League on Sunday.

The World record holder silenced her critics as she dusted others to win the women’s 100m hurdle event at the Diamond League final at the Hayward Field stadium, Eugene,Oregon United States of America.

Tobi ran 12.33secs ahead of to clinch her 3rd Diamond league prize and to become the second woman to win a 100m hurdles hat-trick titles , after Dawn Nelson-Harper

An elated Chief Tonobox Okowa said:

“Oh my God! I am so happy that she has bounced back in great fashion.

Everyone can see that she beat the Budapest world championship record time….

Despite losing at the world event in Budapest Tobi did not lose hope ,she started preparing hard and her new victory at the Diamond league is an indication that she would have done better in Budapest if not for psychological trauma she faced with the atheltics integrity Unit (AIU).
We are very proud of her at the AFN and will continue to support and encourage her always”

Chief Tonobox Okowa who is also the Chairman Delta State Sports Commissioner ended by congratulating the feat he termed a remarkable showing.

The AFN president ended by saying;

“Beating Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto -Rico to 2nd place (12.38seconds and American Keni Harrison to 3rd in 12.44seconds is not cheap,she deserves all the accolades there is”

Amusan season has been embattled with Anti-doping Violation accusations from the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), who claimed she missed three whereabouts tests within a 12-month period.
