Resumption : FCTA Records 85% Turnout

The Federal Capital Territory Education Secretariat has advised Students and Pupils to be good ambassadors and take their 2023/2024 academic session more seriously.

The Acting Secretary, FCT Education Secretariat, Malam Abdulrazeq Leremoh, gave the advise in Abuja, when he visited some schools to ascertain the level of compliance, being the first day of resumption.

Malam Leramoh expressed satisfaction with the over 85 percent resumption of students.

“We are satisfied with the turnout of students and teachers as the new term begins.In most schools visited, we recorded more than 85 percent of students in attendance. This is excellent for us.I advise you to study hard in this academic year 2023/2024.” Leramoh said.

At the LEA Primary School, Jahi, the Acting Secretary commended Venture Furniture Nigerian Ltd, for rehabilitating a classroom and toilet facilities in the school and urged other organisations to work with the government to improve the quality of teaching and learning in public schools.

The Education Boss also assured that the Secretariat is well equipped to meet the needs of all schools according to their peculiarities.

“So far, there is no issue in all the schools visited …the secretariat will await reports from all schools, detailing their critical needs”.

Speaking on maintaining standard, the Director, Department of Quality Assurance, Dr Favour Edem-Nse, reiterated the commitment of the department to effectively monitor schools to maintain standards.

Some of the students in an interview expressed their delight in reuniting with their friends and teachers after a long break, and pledged to study hard to make their parents proud.

Some of the schools visited included Government Science Secondary School, Pyakasa, Model Senior and Junior Secondary School, Maitama and Women Education Centre, Wuse, Christabel Schools, Wuye, and (LEA) Primary School, Jahi Express, Abuja.
