American teenage sensation Coco Gauff has reached her first US Open singles final by beating Karolina Muchova in a semi-final disrupted by climate protesters.

Four protesters chanting for the end of fossil fuels had interrupted the Gauff-Muchova match causing a 49 minutes delay to the semi-final.

One of the protesters glued his feet to the floor on Arthur Ashe Stadium with some chants of “kick them out” towards the protesters.

Security at the Stadium escorted all four men out.

The United States Tennis Association said all four were in New York Police Department custody

Gauff and Czech 10th seed initially stayed on the court for about 10 minutes while security tried to deal with the situation, before they eventually left the court, with the current world number 6 leading 6-4 1-0.

When they returned it was the 19-year-old American who made it through to her first US Open final, sealing a 6-4 7-5 victory on her sixth match point.

The young American is set to face new world No 1 Aryna Sabalenka.

It will be sixth seed second attempt to win a Grand Slam singles final after finishing runner-up to Poland’s Iga Swiatek at the 2022 French Open.
