The Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFUND, is partnering the Ugwumba Leadership Center for Africa in creating more jobs for Nigerian youths through entrepreneurship development.
Executive Secretary of TETFUND, Mr. Sunny Echono made this known when he hosted the President of the
Ugwumba Leadership Center for Africa, Uche Nwosu and his management team in Abuja.
Mr. Echono who expressed satisfaction with the efforts of Ugwumba Leadership Center in empowering young entrepreneurs in Nigeria said it is gradually impacting on the Nigerian society and promised to be a part of it.
“I was impressed last year when I attended your event and saw members of the international community and technocrats in attendance, What your Center is doing by empowering young entrepreneurs in Nigeria is gradually impacting on the Nigerian society and we want to be a part of it.” Mr. Echono stated.
Earlier in his speech, President, Ugwumba Leadership Center for Africa, Uche Nwosu stressed that the aim of the visit was to seek partnership with the agency to advance the scope of job creation programs for Nigerian youths and young graduates as well as undergraduates, who he said are the major beneficiaries of the Center’s development programs.
He said the Center was established in 2018 to contribute its quota towards the reduction of the high youth unemployment in Nigeria and Africa.
“I founded the center in 2018 to reduce the unemployment rate among Nigerian youths and women which are evident in the rate of kidnapping, banditry and other social vices which have multiplied in the society” Nwosu emphasized.
On his part, the Executive Director of the center, Remy Chukwunyere said that the Center is desirous of partnering with TETFUND to implement an “ENTREPRENEURSHIP CHALLENGE” that targets only students in tertiary schools with the aim of promoting creativity and innovation among students.
Mr. Chukwunyere also explained that the Center’s Rebrand Nigeria Essay Competition for tertiary students, with the theme: “MY RESPONSIBILITIES TO MY COUNTRY, NIGERIA” is aimed at promoting patriotism and to inculcate national values among the students.
