Budapest 2023: Amusan Ready To Defend Title

World Women’s 100m hurdles record holder, Tobi Amusan, is ready to defend her title in the world athletics championship in budapest.

The 26 year old Nigerian says she has put the trauma of her suspension by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) at her rear view.

Amusan who was a doubt for Budapest began training for her title defence on Monday morning in Budapest.

She returned from training to be welcomed by Chief Tonobok Okowa, President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN).

The record holder appreciated the AFN and other Nigerians who stood by her in the trying period.

She was cleared by a panel set up by World Athletics to review the AIU suspension a day before commencement of the World Athletics Championship.

The Nigerian track queen has been drawn in lane four in the and final heat of the first round.

She will share the track with Olympic bronze medalist, Megan Tapper of Jamaica.

The Commonwealth and Diamond League champion will be seeking to be one of the four automatic qualifiers for the semifinals.

The 100m hurdles event, will begin this Tuesday in Budapest.

While duo of Rosemary Chukwuma and Nathaniel Ezekiel crashed out of their races in the semifinals.
