Screening : Service Chiefs To Face House Adhoc Committee Tomorrow

The New Service Chiefs will on Monday face the Adhoc committee of the House of Representatives for their screening.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had last week written to the speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, requesting the House to screen the appointees following the immediate retirement of the former Service Chiefs, the ex-Inspector-General of Police and the ex-Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service on June 19.

For that purpose, the Speaker, set up the Committee headed by the chairman of the Committee on Defence in the 9th House, Babajimi Benson, a member representating Lagos State.

Mr. Abbas also announced that all the 8 principal officers of the House from the majority and minority parties as a part of the ad-hoc committee.

The Principal Officers from the Majority caucus are the Majority Leader, Professor Julius Ihonvbere, Deputy Majority Leader, Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims, Chief Whip Bello Usman Kumo, and Deputy Chief Whip Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga.

Similarly, the Minority Officers are the Minority Leader, Kingsley Chinda, Deputy Minority Leader, Aliyu Sani Madaki, Minority Whip Ali Isa, and George Ozodinobi as Deputy Minority Whip.

The new service chiefs billed for the screening included Major General Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff; Major General Toaheed Lagbaja as Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla as Chief of Naval Staff and Air Vice Marshal Hassan Abubakar as Chief of Air Staff.
