Wike Inspects Projects, Commends Progress At Nigerian Law School

todayMarch 25, 2026

Background

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to quality infrastructure delivery.

He stated this during an inspection of ongoing and completed projects in Bwari Area Council, including facilities at the Nigerian Law School.

During the tour, Wike emphasized the importance of routine monitoring to ensure that contractors meet expected standards and timelines.

“In our usual programme, we make sure we go round to see what the contractors are doing and the quality of jobs they will hand over,” he said.

At the Nigerian Law School, the minister expressed satisfaction with the construction of 10 staff bungalows, describing them as completed and well furnished.

He also inspected ongoing hostel projects, commending progress on the female hostel while expressing concern over delays in the male hostel.

“I am quite impressed with the female hostel, but I am not impressed with the level of work on the male hostel. They were awarded at the same time,” he said, although contractors have promised delivery by October or November.

Wike described the intervention at the Law School as unprecedented, noting that it marks a significant milestone in government support for legal education infrastructure.

“This is the first time a government is trying to provide basic infrastructure for the Nigerian Law School,” he stated.

The minister also disclosed that a bridge project near the Fire Service in Bwari is nearing completion, with contractors assuring delivery within the next five months.

He further confirmed that the N5 road project being handled by Julius Berger has been fully completed and is scheduled for inauguration during the third anniversary of President Bola Tinubu.

Addressing concerns over funding and project execution, Wike attributed the administration’s performance to prudent resource management and strong political will.

He explained that the FCT Administration relies largely on internally generated revenue (IGR) and only awards contracts within its financial capacity.

“Projects we don’t have money for, we will not award them,” Wike stressed.

According to him, “The momentum we are getting is because we have a President who believes in providing infrastructure. That support makes the difference,” he added.

Residents of Bwari thanked Wike for ongoing improvements in road networks and public facilities.

The inspection forms part of ongoing efforts by the FCT Administration to monitor project implementation and ensure timely completion of infrastructure critical to the growth of the nation’s capital.
