Eid-el-Fitr: Barau Seeks Peace, Backs Tinubu’s Reforms, Disburses N157m To Constituents

todayMarch 19, 2026

Background

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has extended warm felicitations to Muslims across Nigeria on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, calling on the faithful to sustain prayers for global peace and unity.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau prays for Allah to accept the prayers, supplications, and good deeds of the Muslim Ummah during Ramadan.

He urged Muslims to uphold the values of sacrifice, compassion, and discipline learned during the holy month, and reflect them in their daily lives as taught by Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The lawmaker commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued efforts to stabilise Nigeria’s economy through reforms and policy interventions, just as he praised the administration’s commitment to tackling insecurity, particularly the fight against insurgency and banditry, urging Nigerians to support ongoing government efforts to restore peace and stability.

Senator Barau expressed confidence that the President’s directive for security chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri, following recent terrorist attacks, would strengthen operations to eliminate criminal elements, adding that the 2026 national budget, currently under consideration by the National Assembly, would address key infrastructure deficits and other pressing national challenges when implemented.

As part of his Sallah outreach, the Deputy Senate President disbursed one hundred and fifty-seven million naira to constituents across the thirteen local government areas of Kano North Senatorial District.

The distribution, which began on March 18, is aimed at supporting especially the less privileged to celebrate Sallah with ease.

Over sixty thousand bags of relief items have also been distributed across Kano North and other parts of Kano State.
