The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr Nyesom Wike, has declared that ongoing infrastructure projects across satellite towns are dramatically reshaping Abuja’s development landscape.
Wike who stated this during an inspection of key road projects in Karu, Apo – Karshi, Bwari and Bazango, said the initiative reflects the vision of Bola Ahmed Tinubu under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Wike who said, the primary goal is to improve the living standard of residents in rural and underserved communities, expressed pride in serving in an administration committed to restoring lost hope, adding that the transformation is both visible and impactful.
Wike said making satellite towns more attractive and comfortable for residents through the extension of infrastructure to satellite towns will help curb rural-urban migration.
Wike emphasised that he is fully ready to deliver on Tinubu’s mandate, stressing that development must be inclusive and evenly distributed.
According to Wike, commuting from Kuje to the city now takes just 25 minutes, an indication that accessibility has significantly improved.
Recalling the once-difficult Bazango road, Wike described its transformation as remarkable as the road that was previously impassable is now opening doors for economic growth.
He added that such improvements will stimulate business activities across these communities.
The Minister also pointed to major road projects in Karu, Apo-Karshi, and Bwari-Ushafa which spans about 13 kilometers each saying it reflects a new standard of infrastructure delivery.
He said the joy of residents in these areas is clear evidence of government’s impact and maintained that roads are critical drivers of development, economic expansion and social inclusion.
On governance, Wike dismissed calls for establishing new regulatory agencies for estate developers.
He said the Department Of Development Control under Abuja Metropolitan Management Council is already empowered to enforce compliance.
According to Wike, “creating additional agencies would only complicate governance” , Instead, strengthening existing institutions remains the priority, and any complain against any developer will be addressed effectively by existing FCTA regulatory bodies.
Wike revealed that the government has intervened in cases where developers exploited unsuspecting citizens, and were made to refund affected individuals.
On security and national unity, the Minister assured residents of continued improvements across the FCT and called on citizens to support government’s efforts aimed at strengthening safety.
Wike also used the opportunity to wish residents a happy Salah celebration, urging unity and cooperation.
