Eid-el-Fitr: CG NFSS Directs Officers To Support Formal Security Agencies

todayMarch 18, 2026

Background

The Commander General of Nigeria Forest Security Service, NFSS, Dr. Joshua Osatimehin has directed officers and men of the Service in the 36 States of the Federation and in all the 774 Local Governments in the country to complement the efforts of formal security agencies in maintaining law and order as well as protect lives and property during and after the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

He gave the directive in his Sallah message in Abuja.

He said officers and men of NFSS had already been trained on local intelligence gathering that would assist formal security agencies during festivities in the country.

Dr. Osatimehin therefore used the opportunity to once again appeal to President Bola Tinubu’ to consider the formal recognition of NFSS through the signing of its Bill into law.

He noted that the Bill when signed into law would go a long way in strengthening the nation’s security apparatus and ensure the actualization of President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda for Nigerians in the area of security.

He stated that NFSS members had already been trained over the years on intelligence gathering and all security matters by both National and International Security Agencies to enhance effective security of lives and property in the country.

While reiterating the commitment of NFSS towards ensuring the success of President Bola Tinubu’s led administration Dr Osatimehin stressed the need for all stakeholders to always contribute their quota to the actualization of the renewed hope agenda of the present administration to Nigerians in the area of security.

He therefore enjoined Muslims nationwide to use the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr in praying for Nigeria to overcome its security and economic challenges.

According to him, Muslims should endeavour to continue to imbibe the lessons of the holy month of Ramadan beyond the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.

He equally admonished them to rededicate their lives to the service of God and humanity during and after the festivity.
